JUST IN: Terrorists Gun Down Soldiers In Kaduna, Set Armoured Vehicles On Fire

In Kaduna State, at least 11 troops were murdered in an ambush set up by militants along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari route.

The 123-kilometer Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway has been rated as one of northern Nigeria’s most dangerous highways.

Hundreds of militants ambushed and slaughtered the soldiers, according to security officials, setting two military Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) on fire.

He claimed the terrorists were going in large groups with multiple herds of cows when the soldiers engaged them, believing the cows had been rustled.

“The soldiers thought it was a few bandits and tried to engage them, yes, they killed some of the bandits but the terrorists overpowered them. The terrorists do not leave their dead behind. They also burnt down two APCs.”

According to Abdul Ahmed, a local of Birnin Gwari, a military redeployment was ordered to the region on Monday morning to evacuate the dead soldiers.

He claimed to have counted 11 soldiers’ bodies placed into a van for evacuation.

The soldiers’ bodies were seen by the roadside in a video seen by Daily Trust.

This is one of the several attacks that have occurred in Kaduna in recent weeks.

When bandits attacked near the Kaduna International Airport, a Nigerian Airspace Management Authority (NAMA) official was slain.

Last week, a Kaduna-bound train was assaulted, with several people abducted and nine slain.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who condemned the attacks, suggested mercenaries would be hired if the federal government failed to intervene.

However, his remark sparked a tremendous uproar.
