JUST IN: Gov Adeleke Gives Fresh Order As Protest Is Set To Begin In Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has told Civil Society Organisations and other stakeholders planning to participate in the national hunger protests to avoid actions that could jeopardize the peace and security of the state.

In a statement released by Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, on Tuesday in Osogbo, it was revealed that Adeleke gave this advice during a meeting with members of Civil Society Organisations and other groups in the state.

The Governor, represented by Deputy Governor Mr. Kola Adewusi at the meeting attended by heads of various security organizations in the state, acknowledged the protesters’ constitutional right to protest but cautioned against any behavior that could disrupt the peace and tranquillity of Osun and its people.

“My administration is committed to making Osun a reference point for other states in Nigeria,” Adeleke stated. “I implore you to be law-abiding before, during, and after the protests. No act of violence will be tolerated by my administration in Osun State while you carry out your protests.”

He emphasized, “In Osun, we are known for our good and peaceful nature, and we should maintain our reputation as a state that leads in all things good and developmental.”

Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Abba, and Brigadier General Abdul Kareem Aliyu, Commander of the Engineering Construction Regiment in Ede, also advised the protesters to conduct themselves decorously during the protests in Osun State.
