I Heard Guns, One Of Them Was Amoka – Natasha Akpoti Reveals Attack, Plot To Kill Her
Senator-elect Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi Central has raised alarming concerns about threats to her life.
She revealed that there have been plots to assassinate her. She made these startling allegations during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.
Akpoti-Uduaghan accused the Kogi State government of orchestrating a plan to harm her during the senatorial election held in March. She recounted a harrowing incident where she heard gunshots, and individuals, some of whom were wearing APC shirts, shot at her vehicle. She claimed to have video evidence of the attack, identifying one of the assailants as Amoka, the returning officer for Okehi local government.
She said, “I heard guns; I had his henchmen shoot at my vehicle; I have video evidence of that. “It was the immediate past; they were adorned in APC shirts and one of them was Amoka; he was actually the returning officer for Okehi local government. He led the group of ten men to shoot at me; I have the video captured in that.”
Expressing her dismay, she criticized Governor Yahaya Bello for his recent statement acknowledging her victory as the duly elected candidate for Kogi Central. She asserted that endangering lives, damaging properties, and disrupting the electoral process cannot be labeled as the ‘beauty of democracy’ as the governor suggested.
Additionally, Akpoti-Uduaghan revealed that crucial routes in the state were deliberately obstructed to hinder the smooth progress of the election. Despite these threats and challenges, she demonstrated resilience to avoid portraying an image of vulnerability, especially for women aspiring to engage in political leadership.

Although she received a favorable verdict affirming her election, Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed uncertainty about the judgment’s stability, citing the unpredictable nature of Nigerian politics.
Despite the obstacles, she remains committed to bringing innovative leadership closer to the people, emphasizing the importance of courage and determination in the face of adversity.
