Help Us To Fight Kidnapping, Other Crimes – Police Beg Ogun Residents

The police command in Ogun State has solicited the support and aid of communities to put an end to kidnapping, cultism, and other criminal acts.

Kidnappings, cult battles, land grabs, and other crimes have grown common in Ogun recently, causing fear throughout the state.

According to the DAILY POST, ten people have been kidnapped in the last three weeks, with four others dying in cult confrontations.

Lanre Bankole, the Commissioner of Police, has now appealed to citizens of the state to assist the police, particularly in the field of information collection, adding that this would aid in the elimination of criminal actions in the state.

Bankole stated yesterday in Abeokuta during the induction of Asiwaju of Orile Imo, Olakunle Olalekan, as the patron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogun State, that the police would be able to carry out their jobs effectively if the public provided them with reliable information.

Represented by the Area Commander of Adatan Area Command, ACP Uduak Itah, the Commissioner said, “We need the support of the people in fighting crime. We cannot do anything without intelligence from the people.

“We are going to rely on credible intelligence given to us by members of the public in our policing strategy.”

Bankole went on to say that the only way for the police to build a safe and secure neighborhood was to gain public support.

In his remarks, Chief Olalekan urged all tiers of government to provide security forces with the equipment they need to combat crime.

While guaranteeing the police of the PCRC’s continuing support in the fight against crime, Olamilekan urged them to keep doing their best despite the numerous hurdles they face.
