Heavy Security As Supreme Court Delivers Judgment In Peter Obi, Atiku’s Cases Seeking To Sack Tinubu (PHOTOS)
Security has been heightened in Abuja as the Supreme Court prepares to deliver its verdict on the appeals filed by the presidential candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively.
They are contesting the outcome of the February 25, 2023, presidential election, which resulted in the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
After disagreeing with the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Court, PEPC, both Atiku and Obi headed for the apex court seeking to upturn the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the controversial presidential election. Having heard each of the parties on Monday, the Supreme Court fixed Thursday, October 26 (today) to deliver its judgment, a development that has heightened tension in Abuja where the court is located.
While each of the camps is optimistic of victory, there is uncertainty over the precarious security implications that may result if the judgment goes any way. To forestall any possible breakdown of law and order, heavy security deployments have been made in strategic locations.
