Gov. Matawalle Shuts Down Zamfara Filling Station, Bakery For Helping Bandits
For assisting bandits, Governor Bello Matawalle has shut down a filling station and bakery.
The Zamfara Task Force Committee on Compliance with Mr Matawalle’s Executive Order on Insecurity ordered the closure of a filling station and bakery in the Gusau and Tsafe local government areas on Wednesday.
Abubakar Dauran, the committee’s chairman, issued the order immediately after security forces captured four suspects for allegedly supplying bandits with bread and gasoline.
Mr Dauran stated that the filling station in Tsafe town would be closed because it was selling gasoline products to the robbers’ accomplices. A bakery in Gusau would be closed for supplying criminals with bread.
“Both the filling station and bakery house will be closed down immediately,” he said.
According to him, the suspects were arrested after they were monitored and later trailed by security forces attached to the Taskforce.

“Some of these suspects were found using Jericans, gallons and generator tanks to buy petroleum from the filling stations and supplying the product to bandits in their hideouts,” added the Zamfara official. “They were arrested carrying petroleum heading to Yanware village of Tsafe LGA, while the suspected bread suppliers were caught illegally using motorcycles to supply bread to some unknown persons, suspected to be bandits.”
He bemoaned the governor’s efforts to find a long-term solution to Zamfara’s insecurity, claiming that certain citizens are working against him.
Mr Dauran stated that the government will strictly implement the presidential order, warning that violators would face the full weight of the law if apprehended.
Residents of the state, according to the committee chairman, should continue to provide government and security services with credible information on bandits and their accomplices so that necessary action may be taken.
He urged security services to step up operations on anybody who help bandits and kidnappers in the state.
