Gov Adeleke’s Brother, Sister Call The Shots In Osun – Sen Basiru Reveals
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has raised questions about the power dynamics within Osun State, urging residents to consider who truly holds authority in the state.
Addressing journalists at his residence in Osogbo, Basiru expressed skepticism about the governance under Ademola Adeleke, suggesting that clarity on leadership would emerge after January 2025.
He stated, “For the government of Ademola Adeleke, the time of reckoning will come from January 2025. They claim they are improving infrastructure; let us wait and see.”
“For a state allegedly burdened with a debt of N400 billion and purportedly raising an additional N100 billion for infrastructure, the primary question is: Who is the governor of Osun State? Is it the governor’s sibling or the elected official?”
“Let the people of Osun State question them. How many commissioners are genuinely performing their duties as expected? Most of them are not operating within the government ministries. As of today, Osun State is running on autopilot, with a fragmented focus of power. Everyone pursues their own interests, whether it’s the sister, brother… They say he resides in his sister’s boys’ quarters; you can verify this.”
In response, Osun Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, criticized Basiru’s remarks, asserting that Governor Adeleke holds full authority in Osun State and dismissing claims of familial influence.

Alimi remarked, “Governor Adeleke is fully in charge of Osun State, and his sister is not authorized to sign any official documents.”
“It’s challenging to criticize the government given the unprecedented infrastructural development initiated by Adeleke throughout Osun State, which has reduced opposition to mere sentiment.”
“The Governor’s sister has no authority to sign any documents, and the commissioners are fully empowered. Such comments are unexpected from an individual holding a PhD in Law.”
