FG Reacts To Calls To Scrap NYSC Scheme
The National Youth Service Corps is here to stay, according to the Federal Government, and its contributions to national growth are undeniable.
Mr. Sunday Dare, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, revealed this in Abuja on Saturday night at the screening of “A Call to Service,” an advocacy film created by the NYSC.
The film was made to raise awareness of the program’s importance in developing national unity, patriotism, peace, and cohesion.
The minister praised the film’s timely release, noting that the scheme’s relevance has recently been questioned and debated, with many pushing for its abolition.
“The timing of this movie could not have been better than now after weeks and months of debates about whether the NYSC is relevant or not and whether the scheme should be scrapped or should continue.
“The answer to the critics, to the anti-NYSC is in the premiere of this movie. This movie needs to travel and hit every viewing platform across Nigeria and in the diaspora; it must go viral.
