Edo Parallel Primaries: PDP Reveals Plan For Shaibu, Others Who Lost To Ighodalo
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has initiated efforts to address the grievances of aspirants who participated in last week’s party primary for the Edo State governorship election.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Monday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, confirmed this development.
“We know we have gotten to the next stage of getting our party members together… When there are complaints, as there are now, the internal mechanism will kick in,” Ologunagba remarked.
Before the primary election, several aspirants, including the Edo Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, and others, lodged complaints with the PDP NWC regarding the congress that selected delegates for the primary.
Ologunagba clarified that there were no parallel primary elections within the party, emphasizing that Asue Ighodalo emerged as the winner of the primary election and is recognized as the party’s flagbearer.
He acknowledged Shaibu as a committed “party man” who has the best interests of Edo State at heart, expressing hope that Shaibu would collaborate with the party to approach the election unitedly, ensuring the continuation of good governance in the state.
