Drama As Governor Blasts Tinubu, Declares His Speech Empty

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent address to the nation, asserting that it failed to meet the demands of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests against hunger and poverty.

The protests, which have spread nationwide, were sparked by widespread dissatisfaction with the economic situation and the government’s policies, including the removal of the fuel subsidy.

During a nationwide broadcast on Sunday, President Tinubu called for calm and reiterated that his administration would not reverse its policies.

However, Governor Mohammed, speaking at the launch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for the Bauchi local government elections on Wednesday, expressed disappointment with the President’s response.

“I listened to Mr. President’s speech with rapt attention, and with all humility and courage, what he said was empty,” Mohammed stated. He argued that the President failed to acknowledge the gravity of the situation or address the pressing challenges facing the nation. “The problems are not his alone but for all of us leaders—from the presidency to the sub-national, down to the local government,” he added.

Governor Mohammed emphasized that the Federal Government must stop offering excuses and recognize that its policies are not working. He noted that the unrest in the North serves as a “big wake-up call” for leaders to deliver good governance and respect for the people.

Addressing the Federal Government’s recent aid measures, he remarked, “I have heard, with regrettable attention, some of the ministers saying that we have been given 70 trucks and 500 and something million. How much did the Federal Government make, and what did they do with it?”
