Court Certifies Bashir Machina As Yobe North Senatorial Candidate

Bashir Sheriff Machina was officially recognized as the All Progressives Congress’ senatorial candidate for Yobe North by the Damaturu Division of the Federal High Court on Wednesday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should announce Mr. Machina as the ruling party’s candidate for the district’s 2023 National Assembly election right away, according to Justice Fadima Aminu.

The judge also ruled that Mr. Machina had been legitimately chosen as the APC’s senatorial candidate, upholding the party’s May 28 primary election, which was also recognized by INEC.

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, undermined Bashir Machina’s authority by attempting to invalidate a primary election that had already been approved by using his connections to the party officials.
