Buhari Mourns US Secretary Of State Madeleine Albright
President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has joined the world in mourning the death of Madeleine Albright, the United States’ first female Secretary of State.
The President expressed his condolences to US President Joe Biden and the Albright family in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.
Buhari expressed his condolences to the world diplomatic community, recalling a good conversation with an international diplomat in Washington in 2015.
Albright, he said, was a friendly and intelligent woman who excelled in a field that had previously been deemed the exclusive domain of men.
“She helped shape and guide Western foreign policy after the Cold War,” Buhari added. She is going to be sadly missed.
He lauded the accomplishments of the woman who served as US Ambassador to the United Nations and later as Secretary of State under President Bill Clinton.
He stated, “It is to her eternal credit that she championed human rights and democracy all across the world.”
