BREAKING: Tribunal Throws Out Atiku, Obi’s Request For Live Transmission Of Proceedings
The presidential election petitions tribunal has dismissed an application for a live broadcast of its proceedings on matters arising from the February 25 presidential election.
Recall the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party had made the request.
This was objected to byBola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the February 25 presidential poll.
In a unanimous ruling, the court held that the application has no basis in any known law or judicial procedure.

While delivering the ruling, Justice Haruna Tsammani said, “Televising the court cases is not provided for by the constitution and the powers are not resided hereon.
“This panel sitting as PEPT only has the power to listen to presidential cases.
“The issue of televising is a policy matter.
“However, the justices have the authority to give a legal right or enforce the televising of proceedings for the case of fair hearing and justice.
The motion was thus dismissed.
