BREAKING: Tinubu’s Govt Reacts To ASAP Document Leak, Reveals Its Stand
The Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu, has affirmed that the era of petrol subsidies is “gone for good.”
This statement came in response to a leaked draft report of the Accelerated Stabilization and Advancement Plan (ASAP) presented to President Tinubu by Finance Minister Wale Edun on Tuesday.
The ASAP aims to tackle key challenges impacting reform initiatives and to stimulate development across various economic sectors. The report revealed that the estimated expenditure on fuel subsidies for 2024 is projected to be N5.4 trillion, which is N1.8 trillion more than the amount spent in 2023.
Despite its denial, there have been signs that the federal government still pays subsidy and stakeholders including petrol marketers have also corroborated this at different intervals.
