BREAKING: Presidency Speaks After Supreme Court Fixed Date To Decide Peter Obi, Atiku’s Cases
The Presidency has reacted after the Supreme Court of Nigeria fixed a date to decide the petitions against the victory of President Bola Tinubu.
Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, expressed optimism about the Supreme Court’s upcoming verdict on the appeals filed by presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Labour Party’s (LP) Peter Obi. These appeals challenged President Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.
Reacting to the Supreme Court’s announcement of the verdict date, Onanuga stated on X: “The Supreme Court will give its verdict tomorrow in the appeals filed by the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
“They are challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, President Bola Tinubu in the 25 February election.
“We in the APC are hopeful for victory. We are hopeful that the apex court will affirm the sanctity of the 8.9m votes of Nigerians that gave President Tinubu victory last February.”
However, Onagnuga’s comment drew mixed reactions from users of X with many of them raising both doubts and suspicion over how the apex court is in a rush to deliver final judgment. A number of those who reacted stated that it could be to avoid waiting for the time the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) would release the indicting records it was planning to release on Tinubu.
