BREAKING: Panic As Gunmen In Military Uniform Ambush Top APC Governor, Shoot Randomly

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Sunday evening while en route to an official event in Abuja, according to Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo.

The commissioner revealed that the attackers, disguised in military uniforms, ambushed the governor’s convoy and opened fire at his vehicle near Abuja. The incident, which occurred around 4 pm on October 22, 2023, was swiftly thwarted by the prompt response of security personnel assigned to the governor. The attackers attempted their assault at three different points, with the final barricade near Kwali Federal Capital Territory around 4:20 pm.

Fanwo condemned the incident, attributing it to certain individuals aiming to portray Kogi as unsafe in the lead-up to the upcoming governorship election scheduled for next month. He assured the public that the attacks had been reported to security authorities both at the state and national levels for thorough investigations to prevent future occurrences.

The commissioner emphasized the government’s determination to maintain peace and security in the state and urged citizens to stay vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to relevant security agencies. Fanwo reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens and preventing security threats fueled by politicians sponsoring violence and terrorism.
