BREAKING: Ondo Gov’ship Battle Heats Up As APC Vice Chairman Declares Bid
The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Isaacs Kekemeke, has announced his intention to vie for the Ondo State governorship position under the umbrella of the ruling party, just days before the party’s primary scheduled for April 20, 2024.
Kekemeke, who previously contested for the governorship in the 2020 election but lost the ticket to the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, expressed his readiness to embark on the gubernatorial race once again, asserting that he is now better equipped for the challenge than he was four years ago.
Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Akure, Kekemeke emphasized his wealth of experience and his vision for the state’s socio-economic development and peace.
He stated, “Ondo State needs a leadership that sufficiently understands the philosophy of the present Federal Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and its Renewed Hope programme for effective partnership and collaboration.”
Highlighting his plans for the state, Kekemeke emphasized the importance of creating a peaceful and prosperous environment for citizens and leveraging information science and technology to boost government revenue and foster wealth creation.
He concluded, “I offer myself as a man tested and prepared to take on this onerous task of steering the affairs of our state as governor, my antecedents and pedigree recommended me, my service to the state in the past and even now is my testimony because I have not let you down.”

Kekemeke joins a list of aspirants within the APC, including Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, former Commissioner for Finance Mr Wale Akinterinwa, former House of Representatives member Mr Mayowa Akinfolarin, former Special Adviser to Governor Akeredolu on Health Prof Francis Faduyile, former governorship aspirant Chief Olusola Oke, former chairman of the Ondo State Oil-producing Areas Development Commission Mr Gbenga Edema, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, and Brig. Gen. Olamide Ohunyeye (retd.).
