BREAKING: Nigerian High Court Fixes Dates For Nnamdi Kanu’s Bail Hearing
Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will have his bail plea heard by the Federal High Court in Abuja on May 18 and 26.
Kanu continued his trial before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday.
Eight of Kanu’s fifteen counts, all of which were related to terrorism and similar offenses, were previously dismissed by the court.
Mike Ozekhome (SAN), the IPOB leader’s lawyer, had requested a bail application. A hearing on the application was scheduled for May 18 and 26, 2022, by Justice Nyako.
She did say, however, that she will speak with the legal team before the next session about the suggestion to relocate Kanu’s trial.
NEWS DIRECT previously reported that Kanu’s supporters stormed the courthouse on Friday in a bold show of support for their leader, despite the heavy security presence.

Supporters yelled solidarity songs as they converged on the Ministry of Justice area. Despite gun-toting operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigerian police attempting to drive them away, they pledged not to go.
The security officers have since shut all roads leading to the court.
The followers demand that their leader be released unconditionally, claiming that he is being persecuted for no reason.
Meanwhile, following the release of new “Practice Directions On Trial of Terrorism Cases” by Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, John Terhemba Tsoho, journalists have been forbidden from covering the trial.
