BREAKING: Nationwide Protest: Tension As Soldiers ‘Take Over’ Major Areas In Abuja
On Monday, commuters on the Keffi-Abuja expressway were left stranded as military officers set up a roadblock for a stop-and-search operation.
The checkpoint was established at Sani Abacha Barracks, just before the AYA Roundabout.
Security agencies did not provide prior notice of the blockade, leading to severe traffic congestion that extended over 12 kilometers to Nyanya Bridge. Many civil servants and traders, who commute from areas like Nyanya, Karu, Maraba, and Masaka to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), were caught in the gridlock and forced to turn back after hours of being stuck.
This disruption comes just three days before a planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1, aimed at addressing the rising cost of living and economic hardships in Nigeria.
