BREAKING: Gumi Meets Obasanjo In Abeokuta Over Insecurity Challenges

Ahmad Gumi, a prominent Nigerian Islamic cleric, is meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, according to TheCable.

The meeting was confirmed to TheCable by Obasanjo’s spokesman, Kehinde Akinyemi.

When asked about the conference, Akinyemi replied, “I am not there and the meeting is still going on.”

“It’s not just the two of them; a stakeholders conference is taking place at his home in Abeokuta.”

The meeting, however, may be linked to the country’s instability, according to TheCable.

Gumi has met with a variety of stakeholders in order to address the security problem.

The cleric has repeatedly urged the federal government to offer amnesty to bandits who have been targeting people in the country’s northwestern regions.

If the country wants the bandits to lay down their guns, he has said repeatedly that they should not be chastised or labeled criminals.
