BREAKING: Government Declares 3-Day Holiday

The Kogi State government, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has declared a compulsory holiday.

The holiday is for all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions in the state from Friday, November 10 to Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

The directive, issued by the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Wemi Jones, is in anticipation of the November 11 governorship election. Schools will resume regular academic activities on Wednesday, November 15.

In a statement, Commissioner Jones emphasized that the holiday was declared to ensure a peaceful election and create a conducive environment for the electoral process. He wished for a smooth and secure election while assuring the public of the government’s commitment to organizing a free, fair, and credible electoral exercise in the state.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, with Ahmed Ododo as its candidate, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with Dino Melaye as its flagbearer, Social Democratic Party, SDP, with Muritala Ajaka among others are going to lock horns in the epic contest on November 11, 2023.
