BREAKING: DSS Men Take Over Court As Supreme Court Delivers Judgment On Nnamdi Kanu
Security arrangements at the Supreme Court have been taken over by armed operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) ahead of the anticipated judgment in the Federal Government’s case against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The critical judgment, expected to be delivered this morning, prompted the DSS to secure the surroundings of the Supreme Court. Operatives blocked the road leading to the court and the Villa gate, restricting access for litigants, sympathizers of Nnamdi Kanu, and even accredited journalists.
Journalists, initially turned away, were eventually allowed entry after intervention from high-ranking officials of the Court. The main entrance to the courtroom was closely monitored, with journalists undergoing thorough frisking before being granted access.
The decision of the court, led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is eagerly awaited. The Supreme Court had scheduled today to deliver its judgment on the appeal seeking the release of Nnamdi Kanu from detention. The five-member panel had previously approved the matter for judgment after the final briefs of argument were adopted by both parties on October 5.
