BREAKING: Court Declares Fomer Kano Emir, Sanusi’s Banishment As Unlawful
The detention of the ousted Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, to Awe, a distant hamlet in Nasarawa State, has been deemed illegal, illegitimate, and unconstitutional by Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Sanusi’s limits imposed after his detention on claims of insubordination on March 9, 2020, are a clear arbitrary breach of his right to freedom of movement and personal liberty guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution, according to the court.
Justice Chikere agreed with Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, counsel to Sanusi, that his client was moved out of Kano to Abuja and later to Awe, in Nasarawa State against his wish.
She further held that the right to freedom of liberty and personal dignity granted under Section 34 of Nigeria’s constitution cannot be taken away as done by the Kano Government, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) except with express order of the court.
The judge subsequently voided the arrest, harassment, and banishment of Sanusi to Abuja and later to Nasarawa State and set it aside on ground of being an infringement of his fundamental human rights.
A sum of N10 million was awarded to the former Emir as damages to be paid to him by the respondents.
Exposed!! Popular Abuja doctor revealed how men can naturally and permanently cure poor erection, quick ejaculation, small and shameful manhood without side effects. Even if you are hypertensive or diabetic . Stop the use of hard drugs for sex!! It kills!
The court also issued an order directing the respondents to tender a public apology to Sanusi to be published in two major national dailies for the embarrassment caused him by breaching his fundamental human rights.
This is justice done and well deserved while d government should restate him and declare any appointments to d throne illegal and unconstitutional and his entitledments should b paid and be accorded status as Emir of Kano.
Justice at last for Sanusi Lamido Sanusi whom many of us felt his occupation of the Emiership was not good for the talents, uprightness, intelligence and boardness given to him by God for the uplifting humanity. It’s rather a relief to the general public by the decision of governor Ganduje to depose Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. To say the least Court has now made it clear that Ganduje May have power to remove but had none to banish hence the award of N10,000,000 and public apology in favour of Lamido Sanusi. By the way Ganduje should know that he is no match to Lamido Sanusi any time anywhere even as a governor. I think the Court judgement is a lesson to governor Ganduje and his obidient servants. I stand with Lamido Sanusi always.
