BREAKING: Court Adjourns Nnamdi Kanu’s Human Rights Suit To Nov 19

According to The PUNCH, a Federal High Court in Abia State has delayed a complaint filed on behalf of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, against the Federal Government over human rights violations.

Aloy Ejimakor, a member of Kanu’s legal team, said this in a chat with our correspondent on Tuesday.

Kanu had filed a case against the Nigerian government and the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF Abubakar Malami, SAN, according to the PUNCH.

The action concerns the IPOB leader’s extradition, alleged mistreatment by security personnel, and subsequent release.

The case was set for hearing on November 2, 2021, by the court.

However, Ejimakor informed our correspondent that the case had been postponed.

He said, “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s human rights suit which was slated for November 2, 2021, has been adjourned to November 19, 2021, by the Federal High Court in Abia.

“We are saddened by this development which primarily seeks the unconditional release of Kanu from his illegal detentions.”

The PUNCH reports that the IPOB leader is currently in the facilities of the Department of State Services while awaiting trial by the Nigerian government.

IPOB had called for a one-week sit-at-home in solidarity and for his unconditional release.
