BREAKING: AEDC Workers, CBN Reach Truce Over N41 Billion Debt
Following the participation of important stakeholders, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has called a halt to its current strike.
The NUEE FCT Chairman, Godfrey Abah, verified the news to Peoples Gazette on Monday evening.
According to him, the strike was called off when the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) pledged to settle all overdue payments within 21 days.
Following the accruement of N41 billion in debt owed workers by the Central Bank of Nigeria, NUEE began an industrial action on Monday morning, December 6, shutting down operations of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
The walkout caused power disruptions in Abuja and neighboring states covered by the distribution business, like as Nasarawa, Niger, and Kogi.
After a discussion with all affected stakeholders, NUEE and the government struck an agreement. Mr Abah stated that the meeting took place on Monday evening.
