Atiku Calls For Justice Over Dowen College Tortured, Deceased Boy
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has joined Nigerians in demanding justice for Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old boy who was tortured to death by fellow classmates at Dowen College in Lagos.
“We shall be failing in our duties as parents/guardians, administrators, security agencies and government if we do not get to the bottom of the case of late Sylvester Oromoni.
“It is beholden upon us to enthrone a safe environment in our schools. #Justiceforsylvester,” Mr Abubakar tweeted on Friday evening.
Dowen College, in Lagos, has been in the news after the death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old pupil who was tortured for refusing to join a cult organization.
Dowen College had shut down its activities and directed students and employees to stay away from the institution before it was shut down indefinitely by the Lagos state government.
The administration requested that kids stay at home on Friday and Monday in an email to parents and guardians.

A relative of the dead, Perrison Oromoni, claimed the 12-year-old, a JS2 student, died after he was tortured for refusing to join a cult group at the institution, prompting calls for the school to be closed.
Dowen College’s administration had previously disputed that the youngster had been tortured by cult members.
Young Oromoni suffered many injuries on his body, including bloodied swollen lips, according to a video of his dying moments.
According to a statement made by the school administration on Thursday, the late Oromoni complained of hip problems on November 22 but felt better after drugs were delivered at the school’s sickbay.
It acknowledged that his parents had been summoned for additional medical attention, but maintained that “no portion of the body was harmed when X-rays were taken.”
