Assassination Plot: Tension Mounts As Turkish President Sends Major Threat To Israel

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has issued a stern warning to Israeli authorities, cautioning them against pursuing Hamas members on Turkish soil.

During his return flight from Qatar on Wednesday, Erdoğan emphasized the potential consequences, stating, “If they dare to take such a step against Turkey, they will pay the price in a way that they will not be able to recover.”

Erdoğan’s remarks came in response to a question about reported Israeli intelligence service plans to assassinate Hamas members abroad. His communication office conveyed his strong stance on the matter.

Earlier, Turkish intelligence services, as reported by state news agency Anadolu on Monday, warned that Israel would face “serious consequences” if it targeted Hamas members in Turkey. This follows a previous report by The Wall Street Journal, indicating that Israel’s secret services were preparing to track down and eliminate Hamas leaders globally following the conclusion of the Gaza war.

Turkey maintains connections with the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement and rejects the classification of the group as terrorists, a stance differing from that of European countries and the United States. Erdoğan’s unequivocal warning underscores Turkey’s commitment to protecting Hamas members within its borders.
