APC Reacts, Makes Fresh Promise To Atiku As He Announces 2027 Presidential Bid
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the reported plan of former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, to contest the 2027 election.
Recall that Daniel Bwala, a spokesman of the Atiku’s Presidential Campaign Council had earlier confirmed that the former Vice President would contest for President again in 2027.
However, Bala Ibrahim, the APC Director of Publicity, ridiculed Atiku’s 2027 ambition, considering it the “most laughable news of 2024.” He confidently promised Atiku that he would be defeated again in the upcoming election.
In an interview with The PUNCH on Wednesday, Ibrahim expressed his skepticism about Atiku’s political value and predicted a heavy loss for him in the 2027 presidential election. He emphasized that Atiku, who has attempted to become Nigeria’s president six times, does not pose a threat to the APC and advised him to quit politics, suggesting that he is being misled by aides and associates.
“Our party, which is the All Progressive Congress, thrashed Atiku not once, not twice. Even when we thought he had the energy and little credibility to make him viable to Nigerians, we defeated him completely,” Ibrahim asserted. He dismissed the idea of Atiku being a force to reckon with, both presently and in the future.
In response to the news of Atiku’s intention to contest again in 2027, Ibrahim stated, “This is not an issue of concern to the APC at all. Atiku is not a force to reckon with. He has never been a force to reckon with and he cannot be in 2027 when he must have diminished in terms of political value.”

The APC publicity director also questioned the advisability of running against prominent APC figure Bola Tinubu, suggesting that Atiku’s political aspirations were based on misguided advice. He concluded, “We have not gotten to the bridge, but when we get there we will cross it.”
