Angry Netizens Blast Gov Abiodun Over Embarrassing Roads In Ogun (PHOTOS)

On Monday morning, Governor Dapo Abiodun trended on X (formerly Twitter) as users criticized the poor condition of roads in various communities across Ogun State.

Several users posted pictures of deteriorated roads, accusing Governor Abiodun of not fulfilling his promise to make the roads ‘motorable.’

@HauwaAllahbura shared, “Good morning Nigerians. In 2020, when Dapo Abiodun was looking for votes, he said on X that he was fixing a few roads listed in his tweets. Here is the condition of some of those roads. Did he fix them or not? I’ll let you judge. I literally had to park my car while someone with a suitable vehicle came to pick me up.”

@OAKGbenga added, “I once got trapped around the Sango-Ijoko-Giwa-Okearo axis during heavy rain. Luckily, I had a V6 off-road Nissan Frontier truck. That area has very terrible roads.”

@Ilo_Monsurbj noted, “You’ll be surprised at how this road (Ijoko Road) links to the Lagos-Abẹ́òkúta Expressway and Lagos State. But the governor isn’t interested in completing it as it’s not under Ogun East (his Senatorial district). It’s only a matter of time.”

@EastsideIgboboy claimed that Ogun State is the “headquarters of bad roads in Nigeria,” while @alexottiofr said, “Despite all the big factories in Ota, Ogun State, I still wonder why Sango Ota has such bad roads.”

@yeankhar pointed out, “The road leading to the Wole Soyinka Train Station in Abeokuta South is not motorable. If you pass through Idi Aba via Olokuta to get there, you can literally lose your senses. Abeokuta, the state capital, has some of the worst roads ever.”

However, @tundealuko defended the governor, stating, “Very ungrateful people, I tell you. Look at the state of their roads in 2022. I took these photos myself, and these roads are almost not motorable today. It’s a paid PR war; they’re crying out after everything excellent Dapo Abiodun has done for them.👌”

@ukocarter remarked, “This is Ogun State. This state has more IGR than the entire South East put together. Clap for Dapo Abiodun.”

Efforts to reach the Special Adviser to the governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or WhatsApp messages.

In a tweet on June 19, Governor Abiodun mentioned, “I have directed that palliative works be done on Ojodu Abiodun-Denro Ishashi-Ajuwon-Akute Alagbole-Yakoyo, and Alagbado-Oke Aro-Lambe-Matogun Roads, to keep them motorable until after the current rainy season when we will commence full reconstruction.”
