Again, Nigerian Military Vows To End Banditry, Insurgency

Nigeria’s military has promised to put an end to insurgency, banditry, and other security threats once more.

The pledge was made on Tuesday at the Exercise Camp Highland for the Army Cadets of the 68 Regular Course by Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Yusuf, Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

The workout will take place at the Leadership and Training Centre in Shere Hills, near Jos, Plateau’s capital.

The General explained that outdoor exercise enhances cadets’ character, military competence and leadership skills.

The commandant said retraining of officers and men would make them better equipped to fight insecurity.

Since 1964, the NDA trains cadets into being officers of the Armed Forces.

Yusuf said the current drill was designed to build the confidence of the trainees to face complex situations during operations.

“This is to boost their capacity to deal with the challenges of insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, among others bedeviling this nation.

“It simply means that military will soon end all the security challenges facing Nigeria,” NAN quoted him as saying.

The NDA chief called on Nigerians to support the military and other security agencies as they strive to proect lives and property.
