Again, Gunmen Attack Bullion Van In Ondo, Kill Two Policemen

In a bullion van attack in Ondo State, gunmen suspected of being armed robbers shot and killed two mobile police officers and one civilian.

The attack took place on Wednesday evening in the Costain axis of Ore, a commercial town in Ondo State’s Odigbo Local Government Area.

The robbery occurred just two weeks after a bullion van was attacked by bandits in the Emure-Ile axis of the state.

The dare-devil armed thieves opened fire on the bullion van and the escort van as they were in motion, according to sources.

When they ran into the criminals, the bullion van was conveying an undisclosed sum of money to Rubber Estate, Araromi Obu, Odigbo Local Government, according to one source.

After the robbery, the criminals were claimed to have hauled away an undisclosed sum of money.

With this being the third strike in less than six weeks, a total of four police officers have been slain in the attacks.

A police officer and the driver of the bullion van were slain in the attack, according to the state Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami.

The PPRO stated that the investigation had commenced and that officers were already on the trail of the criminals and were on their way to apprehending them.

The bodies of those who died have been delivered to the mortuary, according to the PPRO, while those who were injured are already receiving medical attention.
