Try It Next Time- Tinubu’s Minister Threatens Organisers, Disrupts Another Event In Abuja (VIDEO)

President Bola Tinubu’s Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, once again disrupted an event, expressing strong displeasure over the organization of a workshop without her knowledge, calling it a “waste of money.”

The event in question was a validation workshop for the third-generation national action plan (2024-2029) on the UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR), held in Abuja on Wednesday.

In a viral video shared by Symfoni on Thursday, the minister was seen storming the event, warning officials against organizing programs without her prior approval. She criticized the allocation of funds to initiatives that she believes do not have a direct impact on the people, particularly in addressing poverty.

Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasized the suffering of women and children in Nigeria and the need for effective poverty alleviation measures. She sternly warned, “Let this be the last time women’s affairs will organize anything that I am not aware of. You try next time; I will come here and get you people disgraced. I know what I am going through in this country. For a while, this is what we keep on organizing.”

Referring to a recent hunger protest and discussions about peace and security, she added, “Women are not empowered. Children are suffering. Nigerians are suffering, but we waste money all the time on frivolous things that don’t make sense.”

The minister expressed her determination to change the status quo, stating, “Many people may misunderstand me, but I am ready to be misunderstood. I am ready to be tortured. I am ready. I have changed the narrative; I said no program without empowerment.”

She further questioned the effectiveness of workshops in solving poverty, asking, “You are talking about peace and security. With poverty, how can you solve it? You keep talking, doing workshops. With poverty, where are we heading to? How do we solve that poverty by directing money to the wrong channels that don’t make an impact on humans? On those people you want them to change and give you peace.”

Kennedy-Ohanenye criticized the misuse of government funds, revealing, “They give money to the ministries, and it is used for travel and programs. Nothing that will impact the nation. If you hear the money the government gives out to ministries, you will be shocked. Why should it continue like that? Why should we fold our hands and let these things continue? Who do you think will save you? It’s you that will save yourself.”

Undeterred by potential backlash, she declared, “Let them call me names—troublemaker, mad woman—I am ready to take it. It’s not today. I told them that you can’t bring N100m and use it to do programs. That is the fact, that over N100 million is used for programs. I said they should always use half to empower the women, then use the other half to do your program.”

This incident is not the first time the minister has interrupted an event. Earlier this month, she disrupted another event in Abuja, ordering the arrest of the organizer for alleged impersonation.
