Tinubu Makes New Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe as Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, for a second four-year term, effective December 5, 2023.

This was announced in a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Professor Sheshe initially assumed the role on December 6, 2019. Alongside this, President Tinubu has also reappointed Professor Yusuf Jibrin Bara as Chief Medical Director of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for another four-year term. The President’s decision came after evaluating Professor Bara’s performance during his first term.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Professor Bara would build on his prior achievements in his second term.

Additionally, the President has approved the takeover and conversion of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, Nasarawa. This conversion, requested by the Nasarawa State Government, aims to enhance the training of students in medical and allied sciences and improve healthcare delivery in the state.

Ngelale added that President Tinubu is committed to ensuring the social welfare and healthcare security of Nigerians, and will continue to invest aggressively in the sector.
