PDP Governors Now Showing Power Against Wike- National Coordinator
Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have received commendations for their bravery amid the ongoing political tensions between Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Their actions have been seen as a vindication for Senator Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT).
Emeka-Yellow Ikpegbu, the National Coordinator of PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress, praised the PDP Governors for their recent support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, highlighting that their stance reflects a courageous opposition to Wike’s perceived godfatherism.
Speaking in Umuahia, Ikpegbu emphasized that the support from the PDP Governors aligns with the sentiments expressed by the BoT members, led by Senator Wabara, who had recently visited Fubara in Port Harcourt. He noted that the declaration made by the PDP Governors in Jalingo, Taraba State, underscores their commitment to principles of equity and justice, affirming that Fubara is the rightful leader of the PDP in Rivers State, as stated in the party’s constitution.
“The statements made by the PDP Governors in Jalingo echoed exactly what Senator Wabara and the BoT members conveyed in Port Harcourt, and that is how it should be,” he remarked.
Ikpegbu cautioned against allowing the impunity that has previously hindered the PDP’s progress to resurface if the party aims to reclaim political dominance in the country. He stressed the importance of adhering to the core democratic values that have historically defined the party’s foundation to ensure its strength and success in future elections.
