Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, shared a remarkable personal experience that he believes confirmed divine intervention following the state’s tightly contested September 21 governorship election. Reflecting on the tense period awaiting the election results, Okpebholo revealed that, just a day after the election, he found a dead bat on his bed—an eerie sight he interpreted as a sign of God’s protection and a victory over his adversaries.

Speaking at a praise concert marking his inauguration, Okpebholo emphasized the importance of placing trust in God rather than seeking help from lesser gods. The concert, which featured political figures, religious leaders, and renowned gospel musicians, served as a moment for Okpebholo to thank God for his triumph. He remarked that while his critics were attacking him on platforms like Arise News, Facebook, and Channels TV, he turned to prayer and praised God, believing that the battle was already won in the spiritual realm.

The Governor recounted the strange incident of the dead bat on the morning of September 22, 2024, a day after the election. He described how, upon entering his room, he discovered the bat lying lifeless on his bed, symbolizing the defeat of his opponents without him lifting a finger. Okpebholo attributed this strange occurrence to the power of God’s spirit, which he believes ultimately delivered him from the attacks against his victory.

In his speech, the governor also praised the support of the religious community and encouraged others to trust in God’s power, revealing that throughout his political journey, including his 2023 senatorial and 2024 governorship campaigns, he never sought the help of native doctors, prophets, or shrines. He urged all Nigerians and friends of the country to hold steadfast in their faith, trusting that with God, all things are possible.
