Ikpeazu Orders Investigation As Policemen Allegedly Rape Abia Poly Student
Men from the Nigerian Police Force’s Rapid Response Squad in Aba Division, Abia State, have been accused of raping a female Abia Polytechnic student in Aba.
According to the DAILY POST, the purported event provoked demonstrations by students on Friday.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, the Governor of Abia State’s wife, has paid a visit to the student who is accused of being raped by police officers.
Mrs. Ikpeazu assured her that her organization, Vicar Hope, would cover her medical expenses and ensure that justice was served.
In a visit to the medical facility where the victim was receiving treatment in Aba, the Abia First Lady, who had earlier called and spoken with the victim, was represented by Dr Suzzy Nwachukwu, a medical personnel attached to her office, condemned the perpetrators of the heinous crime and vowed to ensure that the matter was not swept under the carpet.
She ordered that the lady be sent to a different medical institution inside the state for better care, and she cautioned anyone threatening her to expect the full force of the law.

Similarly, the Abia State Government has urged the Commissioner of Police, Mrs Janet Agbede, to examine complaints of security agents harassing students and other civilians in the state as soon as possible.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has urged the police authorities to ensure comprehensive investigation and prosecution of policemen who harass law-abiding individuals as a deterrence to others, according to Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the State Commissioner for Information, in a statement on Friday.
Governor Ikpeazu, according to Okiyi Kalu, is closely following the situation surrounding the alleged harassment and rape of Abia poly students in order to ensure the safety of all law-abiding residents.
