Cristiano Ronaldo ‘breaks down’ after scoring history-making Portugal goal against Croatia

Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a hugely emotional celebration.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 900th career goal and his hugely emotional celebration sums up his incredible feat.

Ronaldo doubled Portugal’s lead against Croatia in their UEFA Nations League clash on Thursday.

Nuno Mendes picked out the 39-year-old, who made no mistake in front of goal as he smashed home from close range.

His goal brought up his 900th goal of his legendary career.

And the emotions around his record-breaking goal appeared to get the better of the great man.

Ronaldo collapsed to his knees, with his head in his hands.

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes jokingly kicked Ronaldo before Pedro Neto congratulated him.

Diogo Dalot then hugged Ronaldo, who eventually got back to his feet to celebrate with the rest of his teammates, including Manchester City pair Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias.

After celebrating with his teammates, he gestured to the crowd.

Ronaldo has now scored 131 goals for Portugal.

Speaking before his 900th career goal, the five-time Ballon d’Or set his sights on reaching 1,000 goals.

“Soon I will do 900 and, after, I will beat 1,000. I want to reach 1,000 goals,” he said on his new YouTube channel. “If I don’t have injuries, this, for me, is the most important. I want that.

“It’s the best marker I can have in football. There will be one difference: all of my goals have videos, so I can prove that.”
